Client’s Vision: Having had their house built years prior, the owners were settling into becoming full time residents and they were ready invest in beautifying the gardens.
Existing Conditions & Design Parameters: The landscape was a fairly ‘clean slate’ with large areas of mulch around the house and a few overgrown shrubs left over from the building contractor ten years prior. There were stormwater drainage issues that were causing washing and erosion along an existing pathway down to the community golf course. In addition, plans were required to be submitted to the community design review board.
Design Response: Focusing on how the landscape will function as private gardens and as a connection to the community golf course. Creating garden paths that connect around the property and placing plants to frame and accentuate movement through the garden while also creating outdoor living ‘rooms’. Using native plants and non-invasive adaptive plants for ongoing seasonal color and encouraging pollinators and birds to visit the garden.
